About Coppice Hatfield Lean To Painted Wooden Greenhouse 6ft 1in x 6ft 4in

The Coppice Hatfield Lean To Wooden Greenhouse (CCTHL1930X1855PBUN) measures 1.86m x 1.93m (6'1 x 6'4) and is built to stand against a wall or fence. That footprint gives a small garden a proper growing space without eating up the whole plot. Professional installation is included in the price so there is nothing to organise separately.

The frame uses 44mm x 44mm R4C timber framing with 11mm pressure treated dwarf walls finished in grey paint. Glazing is 3mm toughened glass throughout including the roof. That combination handles wind and rain well and lets in strong natural light all year round.

Two hydraulically-powered automatic vents regulate temperature without any manual effort. One shelf of staging is included with brackets to fix it to the frame. You can realistically grow tomatoes peppers cucumbers and salad crops through summer and overwinter tender plants through colder months.

The door is partially glazed with chrome handles and hinges and a 3-lever mortice lock to keep tools secure. It can be positioned at either end of the structure. A 1-year warranty is included. Free delivery to most UK addresses.

Technical Details

The frame uses 44mm x 44mm R4C section timber a robust profile that resists racking in wind. The 11mm dwarf walls at the base add rigidity at ground level. All timber is pressure treated to resist rot then finished in grey paint. Glazing is 3mm toughened glass fixed into the frame throughout the sides and pent roof. The roof pitch directs water away from the wall. Two hydraulic automatic vents use temperature-sensitive fluid to push the vent arms open as heat builds and close them as it drops no power needed.

Materials & Construction

The frame is pressure treated softwood timber with 44mm x 44mm R4C section uprights and rails and 11mm timber dwarf walls finished in grey paint. All glazing including the pent roof is 3mm toughened glass. There is no polycarbonate used anywhere on this greenhouse.

Base & Foundation

No base or flooring is included. You must prepare a level solid base a concrete slab or paving is recommended before the installation team arrives. The base must match the greenhouse footprint of 1855mm x 1930mm and be fully level and square. Ground preparation is the buyer's responsibility.

Assembly Guide

Professional installation is included in the price. Coppice's installation team assembles the greenhouse using a clip installation system. You do not need to build it yourself. The team brings all fixings and components. You just need a prepared level base ready on the day. No tools or DIY experience needed from the buyer.

Growing Guide

The 1.86m x 1.93m floor gives you room for two standard grow bags side by side that is up to six tomato or pepper plants. The included staging shelf adds a second level for seed trays and pot plants in spring. In summer run tomatoes cucumbers and peppers from the floor. Use the staging for chillies and herbs. In autumn and winter the space is well suited to overwintering tender perennials and keeping frost-sensitive pots alive. It is a practical two-season growing space.

Maintenance & Care

Retreat the timber once a year to protect against rot and fungal decay this is required to keep the warranty valid. Clean the toughened glass panels regularly to maintain light levels. Check staging brackets are secure each season. Inspect the automatic vent mechanisms for smooth operation annually.

Making the Most of the Space

This lean to design sits flush against a wall or fence so it uses boundary space rather than taking up the middle of the garden. The pent roof pitches away from the wall keeping rainwater clear. Allow around 600mm clearance on the door side to open it fully. The 1.86m x 1.93m footprint is compact but the full-height 2540mm ridge gives proper standing room inside.

Frequently Asked Questions

Coppice's professional installation team assembles the greenhouse using a clip installation system so the build is fast and precise. All fixings and components arrive ready to go and the team handles the full build on site.
This greenhouse is designed without flooring so you must prepare a level solid base such as a concrete slab or paving before the installation team arrives. The base must be level and square to the stated footprint of 1855mm x 1930mm.
Both vents are hydraulically powered meaning they open and close automatically in response to temperature changes inside the greenhouse. No electricity or manual adjustment is needed making them reliable and low maintenance.
Toughened glass is significantly stronger than standard horticultural glass and if it does break it shatters into small blunt pieces rather than sharp shards. This makes it a safer choice where children or pets use the garden regularly.
Yes it is specifically designed to sit against a wall or fence with the pent roof directing rainwater away from the structure. You should allow enough clearance on the remaining three sides to open the door and access the vents comfortably.
The pressure treated 44mm framing and toughened glass provide reasonable insulation for overwintering tender plants though additional bubble wrap insulation inside will help retain heat during hard frosts. The automatic vents will stay closed in cold weather keeping warmth in.
The timber must be retreated once a year to protect it from rot and fungal decay and this is a condition of keeping the structure in good order. The glazing should be cleaned regularly to maximise light transmission and the staging brackets checked for security.
This greenhouse comes with a 1-year warranty from Coppice covering manufacturing defects and structural issues. Annual retreatment of the timber is required by the customer to maintain the wood's protection and keep the structure in good condition.
