The frame is built from 44mm x 44mm R4C timber with 12mm cladding that is pressure treated and coated in a microporous oil. This lets the wood breathe while blocking rot. Two opening vents sit on either side of the apex roof to regulate temperature. A 2-shelf staging unit is included with brackets to fix it to the frame. Tomatoes peppers cucumbers and overwintering tender plants all work well in a greenhouse this size.

The 1.6m x 2.85m floor gives you room for two standard grow bags along the base. That's space for six tomato or pepper plants at ground level. The included 2-shelf staging runs along one side and holds seed trays and pots in spring. In summer use the floor for tall crops like tomatoes and the staging for cucumbers or herbs. In autumn and winter the staging holds tender plants being overwintered away from frost. It's a practical size for a keen kitchen gardener.

Retreat the timber once a year to protect against rot and fungal decay. This is a condition of keeping the structure in good order and is the owner's responsibility. Clean the toughened glass panels periodically to maximise light. Check that the two roof vents open and close freely each season.

At 1.6m wide the Ashdown fits along a fence or against a garden wall without eating into lawn space. You need clearance on the door side to open it fully - the door is 720mm wide so allow at least 800mm in front. The two roof vents open upward so no side clearance is needed for those. The 2.85m depth gives a useful run of floor and staging space relative to the small footprint.
