About Coppice Ashdown 6ft 3in x 9ft 4in Apex Painted Wooden Greenhouse

The Coppice Ashdown Apex Painted Wooden Greenhouse CCAP2845X1905PBUN measures 1.91m x 2.85m (6'3 x 9'4) giving you just over 5.4 square metres of growing space. That is a solid footprint for a smaller garden and enough room to grow year-round. Professional installation is included in the price so you do not need to organise a separate fitting team.

The frame uses 44mm x 44mm R4C timber framing with 12mm pressure treated cladding finished in grey paint. That framing section is substantial for a wooden greenhouse and gives real rigidity. Glazing is 3mm toughened safety glass throughout including the door which handles knocks and bad weather far better than standard horticultural glass.

Two opening roof vents sit on either side of the apex and allow you to regulate temperature without leaving the door open. A 2-shelf staging unit is included with brackets to fix it to the frame. You can realistically grow tomatoes peppers cucumbers and salad crops through summer and use the staging for seed trays in spring.

The grey painted finish sets this apart from plain timber greenhouses. The 3-lever mortice lock secures tools and equipment. With toughened glass staging included and professional fitting this is a well-specified package for a serious home grower.

Technical Details

The frame uses 44mm x 44mm R4C section timber which is a larger profile than many entry-level wooden greenhouses and adds stiffness across the structure. The 12mm cladding is pressure treated before the grey paint finish is applied giving two layers of rot protection. Glazing is 3mm toughened glass clipped into the frame toughened glass is roughly four times stronger than standard glass and breaks into blunt fragments rather than sharp shards. Two apex roof vents provide cross-ventilation at the highest point where heat builds up first. The clip-based assembly system locks components together for structural rigidity.

Materials & Construction

The frame is pressure treated softwood timber with 44mm x 44mm R4C section and 12mm cladding finished in grey paint. All glazing including the door is 3mm toughened safety glass. Chrome steel fittings are used on the door hinges and handle hardware.

Base & Foundation

No base or flooring is included with this greenhouse. You must lay a level concrete slab or firm paved surface covering the full 1.91m x 2.85m footprint before the installation team arrives. The ground preparation is entirely the buyer's responsibility. No floor panels are supplied.

Assembly Guide

Coppice's professional installation team assembles this greenhouse using a clip-based system and installation is included in the purchase price. You do not need to build it yourself. The team handles the full build on site. Instructions and fixings are part of the professional service. You do need to have a prepared level base ready before they arrive.

Growing Guide

The 1.91m x 2.85m floor gives you room for two standard grow bags end to end along the centre enough for 6 tomato or pepper plants. The included 2-shelf staging runs along one side and holds seed trays and small pots in spring. In summer use the floor for tall crops like cucumbers and the staging for herbs and salad. In autumn and winter the staging is ideal for overwintering tender perennials and storing dahlia tubers. You can realistically run a productive growing year in this size.

Maintenance & Care

Retreat the timber once a year to protect against rot and fungal decay this is required to maintain the 1-year warranty. Clean the toughened glass panels regularly to keep light levels high. Check the vent hinges and door hardware each season and tighten any loose fixings as needed.

Making the Most of the Space

At 1.91m wide x 2.85m deep this greenhouse fits into a modest garden plot. You need roughly 600mm clearance on the door side to open it fully and at least 300mm on the other sides for vent access and maintenance. It should not be placed hard against a fence on the vent side. The 2-shelf staging means you get bench space plus floor space from a footprint of just over 5 square metres.

Frequently Asked Questions

Professional installation by Coppice's own team is included in the price using a clip-based assembly system. You do not need to hire a separate installer or build it yourself.
No base or flooring is included so you must prepare a level concrete slab or paved surface before the installation team arrives. The ground must be flat and firm across the full 1.91m x 2.85m footprint.
There are two opening roof vents positioned on either side of the apex ridge. They are manually operated and not automatic so you will need to open and close them yourself to manage temperature.
All glazing including the door panel is 3mm toughened safety glass which is far more resistant to impact than standard horticultural glass. This makes it a more practical choice where children or pets are regularly nearby.
The door is right-hand hinged and fitted with chrome handles and hinges plus a 3-lever mortice lock. That level of lock is the same standard used on many external house doors and keeps tools and equipment secure.
The pressure treated timber must be retreated once a year to protect it against rot and fungal decay. Glazing should be cleaned regularly to maintain light levels and the vent hinges checked to keep them operating smoothly.
The Coppice Ashdown Apex comes with a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase. You should keep your proof of purchase and carry out the recommended annual wood retreatment to support any warranty claim.
You can add extra side staging in a painted finish, greenhouse guttering for rainwater collection and an additional door for the opposite gable end. All three are available at the time of ordering and are not included as standard.
