Halls Popular 64 Green Aluminium Apex Greenhouse 6x4 (1.93m x 1.31m)

The Halls Popular 64 (SO8121) is a 6x4 apex greenhouse measuring 1.93m wide by 1.31m deep with a base area of 2.53m². That gives you a workable growing space in a compact garden footprint. The ridge height reaches 1.96m so you can stand upright comfortably. It comes in a green powder-coated aluminium frame that stands out from the standard silver models.

The frame is aluminium with diagonal bracing built in for wind resistance. 3mm horticultural glass is included as standard fitted with clips and rubber gaskets. You can upgrade to 4mm twinwall polycarbonate or toughened safety glass. The frame carries a 12-year guarantee and needs no painting or treating.

Ventilation comes from one roof vent. An auto-opener is available separately and fits all Halls roof vents. The smooth-running sliding door has a 600mm opening and adds extra airflow on warm days. No staging is included but aluminium 1-tier staging, a potting bench and a 3-tier seed tray frame holding 15 trays are all available as add-ons. Tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers all grow well here.

The 12-year frame guarantee makes this a long-term buy. Diagonal bracing, integral gutters and low-maintenance aluminium make it a solid starter greenhouse. Optional base, staging and a paraffin heater round it out well.

This greenhouse arrives flat packed for DIY assembly. Two people are needed and the job takes an estimated one to three hours. Glazing fits with clips and rubber gaskets making installation straightforward. All fixings are supplied with the unit. No professional installation is included as standard though installation is available as an optional service through the retailer.

The 1.93m x 1.31m floor fits two standard grow bags side by side enough for four to six tomato or pepper plants. Add the optional 1-tier aluminium staging along one side and you free up floor space while gaining a full-length potting shelf. The 3-tier seed tray frame holds 15 trays making it ideal for spring sowing. In summer use the floor for cucumbers and climbing tomatoes. In autumn move tender perennials and overwintering cuttings onto the staging. The 1.96m ridge height gives enough headroom for tall cordon tomatoes.

The aluminium frame needs no painting or annual treatment. Clean the glazing with warm soapy water to keep light levels up. Check the roof vent and sliding door runners periodically and clear the integral gutters of debris each autumn. The 12-year frame guarantee does not specify owner maintenance conditions but keeping the structure clean and clear is good practice.

At 1.93m x 1.31m this is one of the smallest practical apex greenhouses available. Site it against a sunny fence or wall on the south or west side of the garden. You need roughly 600mm clearance on the door side to slide it fully open. The apex roof means you get full standing height at the centre despite the compact footprint. The 2.53m² base area delivers more usable bench and floor space than the external dimensions suggest.
