About Forest Garden Wallscape 4ft x 6ft Lean To Greenhouse with Solid Back

The Forest Garden Wallscape 4' x 6' Lean To Greenhouse with Solid Back (LTGH46SBHDBUN) has a footprint of 1.18m x 1.83m at the base roughly 4ft x 6ft. That gives you a usable growing space that works well in a courtyard, patio or tight garden corner. The pent roof lean-to design means it sits flush against a wall or fence without wasting space.

The frame is built from 28mm x 28mm pressure treated timber with 12mm shiplap tongue and groove cladding. The shiplap's interlocking seal keeps the interior dry in wet weather. Glazing is shatterproof scratch-resistant acrylic lighter and safer than horticultural glass. The timber is FSC certified from sustainably managed forests and comes with a 15-year anti-rot guarantee with no further treatment needed.

A large opening roof vent regulates temperature inside. No staging is included but a wooden potting bench is available separately. Realistically you can grow tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and overwinter tender plants in a structure this size.

The solid back panel adds insulation and structural strength making it suitable anywhere in the garden not just against a wall. The single door fits with a drop latch and can be installed at either end. Fixings and instructions are included.

Technical Details

The 28mm x 28mm timber frame is braced by 12mm shiplap tongue and groove cladding panels whose interlocking profile locks the structure rigid and keeps rain out. The pent roof pitches away from the wall to shed water. Acrylic panels are retained in the frame sections and flex slightly under impact rather than shattering. The single roof vent is hinged and held open manually. The solid back panel replaces glazing on the rear wall adding rigidity and reducing heat loss. All timber is pressure treated to resist rot without surface coatings.

Materials & Construction

The frame is 28mm x 28mm FSC certified pressure treated timber with a rough sawn finish. Cladding is 12mm shiplap tongue and groove timber. Glazing and roof panels are shatterproof scratch-resistant acrylic 28mm thick on the roof. No glass is used anywhere in the structure.

Base & Foundation

This greenhouse has no floor included. It must be built on a firm level base such as a concrete slab or paving. You need to prepare and level the ground yourself before assembly. No base or flooring is supplied with the greenhouse.

Assembly Guide

This greenhouse arrives flat packed with all fixings and instructions included. It is a DIY self-assembly job. Given the packaged weight of 140kg and the number of panels involved two people are strongly recommended. No professional installation is included as standard though installation is available as an optional extra. Allow a full day for assembly.

Growing Guide

The 1.18m x 1.83m floor area fits two standard grow bags side by side on the floor enough for six tomato or pepper plants. A potting bench along one side leaves floor space for a third grow bag or pots of cucumbers. In spring use the staging for seed trays and plug plants. In summer run tomatoes up the back wall and use the floor for courgettes or aubergines. In autumn and winter the solid back and acrylic roof hold enough warmth to overwinter tender perennials, fuchsias and citrus in pots.

Maintenance & Care

The pressure treated timber needs no annual retreatment to keep the 15-year guarantee valid. Clean the acrylic glazing with a soft cloth and mild soapy water avoid abrasive cleaners. Check the roof vent opens freely each spring. Clear any debris from the roof and check the shiplap joints remain tight after winter.

Making the Most of the Space

The 1.18m wide by 1.83m deep footprint fits into a corner or against a fence without taking over the garden. The pent roof sits flush to a wall. You need roughly 700mm clearance at the door end to open it fully. The solid back means you do not need access behind it. Despite the compact footprint you get usable bench space along one side plus full floor growing space.

Frequently Asked Questions

This greenhouse has no floor included so it must be erected on a firm level base such as a concrete slab or paving slabs. You will need to prepare the ground yourself before delivery arrives.
Assembly is flat packed DIY with all fixings and instructions supplied. Two people are strongly recommended given the 140kg packaged weight and the number of panels involved.
The glazing is shatterproof scratch-resistant acrylic which is far safer than conventional horticultural glass. It will not shatter into sharp shards if struck making it a sensible choice for family gardens.
There is one large opening roof vent that helps regulate temperature inside the structure. The single door can also be left open to increase airflow on hot days.
The solid back panel and pressure treated 12mm shiplap cladding retain heat better than a fully glazed model. The acrylic glazing also holds warmth reasonably well though additional insulation such as bubble wrap lining is advisable in hard frosts.
The pent roof lean-to design is built to sit against a wall or fence but the solid back panel means it can also stand freely anywhere in the garden. You need clearance at the door end to open it fully and access around the sides to open the roof vent.
Forest Garden provides a 15-year anti-rot guarantee on this pressure treated structure. No further timber treatment is required which saves both time and money over the life of the greenhouse.
The solid back variant is delivered within 5 to 10 working days to most UK addresses with free standard delivery included. The glazed back variant offers a choice of delivery day at checkout.
